More than Petőfi; more than literature; more than a museum!
The aim of the Petőfi Museum of Literature is to collect and explore the Hungarian literary heritage as comprehensively as possible, and to present and convey both classical and contemporary Hungarian literature extensively and in the spirit of supporting the mother tongue and cultural identity, while acknowledging the diversity of the world.
The aim is to realise the above in society in a wide-ranging manner, to keep awake cultural memory, and to continuously enrich the process by providing personal and community experiences of the dialogue between literature and the related arts.
